About the artist
The Interaction Research Studio in the Design Department at Goldsmiths explores the design of computational systems for everyday life. Their practice-based research integrates design-led research methods with work on embedded and ubiquitous technologies to produce prototype products embodying new concepts for interaction. Instead of pursuing design as problem solving, they design products to create situations that encourage playfulness, exploration and insight.
Prayer Companion has been designed for a convent of nuns in York. It is programmed to inform the Sisters of affairs in the outside world that require their prayers by collecting news headlines from the media and aggregated personal messages from blogs.
